Children will learn the basics of reading music through the use of handbells, recorder and percussion instruments. They perform at our two yearly concerts, Christmas and spring. Many times our instructors will introduce other instruments, use musical games to teach concepts and skills and bring crafts for the children to have fun with.
As we have conducted this class for the last 9 years, all of these students do go on to piano and other instruments as we have taught them to read music and identify time signature, key signature and understand pitch. By the end of our 9 month year each child will have learned approximately 30 songs.
