Orange Coast Musical Arts supports three levels of band and percussion and a marching band program.
Beginning Band classes are offered four times a week and is designed for students who have no musical experience and want to learn a band instrument and read music. A band instrument would include flute, clarinet, oboe, basoon, saxophone, trumpet, french horn, baritone, trombone, and tuba.
Percussion, including drum set, drumline and pitched percussion that encompasses xylophone, marimba and timpani, are taught in a drum class offered twice a week. Our marching drumline rehearses twice a month to support the Sound Waves Marching Band.
Sound Waves Concert and Stage Band is the intermediate level of band. They perform on stages across Orange County about seven times as well offering their best music at the annual Christmas Concert and Spring Concert.
Alpha Winds is the advanced ensemble of winds and rhythm. This group performs 10 to 15 times a year including long-standing appearances at South Coast Plaza, Bella Terra Amphitheater, Tustin Street Fair and the Tustin Tiller Days.
Sound Waves Home School Marching Band is the west coast’s only homeschool marching band. The band marches in a number of parades throughout the year including the Garden Grove Strawberry Festival, Seal Beach Christmas Parade, Lompoc Flower Festival and the Lake Forest 4th of July Parade.
